I'll
tell you a tale... A tale of an undead chocobo and a castle...
If you want to listen, and have to go to pee or whatever, do it 'rite nao', I don't want interruptions while I am babbling >/ Ok, here I go. Probably some of you, visitors, remember that loooong time ago (like in 2003),
a person known as "Akira_Rodhernan" announced on
the Castlevania Dungeon Forums about the birth of a new fan
site named "Obsession" that was dedicated solely
to Mathias Cronqvist and Joachim Armster from
the newest Castlevania game in that time, Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.
The site was quite lame and ugly (in my oppinion), but lovely afterall, since this Akira person put a lot of efforts on that site, no matter that it was hosted on a free site (GeoCities), and using a free redirect url (from clan.st) it was nice and was growing within the time. Despite of the uglyness of the site (since Akira had not enough experience yet with web design), the sites had a good acceptance from other dungeonites and general Castlevania fans (specially from the female ones) since it had been a long time since someone had dedicated time and effort in building shrines for single Castlevania characters, other than Alucard lol But mostly, keeping them alive! Some time later, the site got quite bigger and it got moved, and was nicely hosted on the Inverted Dungeon Network under the Clockwork Mansion domains. But in the proccess, the site was taken down for some time, courtesy of the stupid 56kbps connection that Akira had in that time. And after some quite long time (for uplaoding everything again) the reopening came with a new name "Melancholy and Grief", because... Well, this was explained several times already. A few months passsed and Akira finally got a domain and moved the shrines to it, and again, the sites were taken down in the proccess, thanks to the horrible 56k. But in the meanwhile, a new addition was in the plans, and in the reopening, a Leon Belmont shrine was added to the site, and gaining the OMG [sarcasm]super original name[/sarcasm] of "Lament of Innocence" *insert surprised audience expresions here* The three new shrines got bigger, got more info, more material like multimedia stuff (such as videos, sounds, music), and many other goodies. The site was going fine that also deserved its own space on the int3rw3bz! Akira thought that the site being just a branch of the domain was an injustice. And then, the lovely Ariem Sparda gave to Akira a domain (plus space) as an x-mas gift for those shrines, and it was when LamentofInnocence.net was born! Akira couldn't believe it, lol, And then, the site was taken down (again) in order to move everything to the new domain. The site stayed all pimp on the new domain for some months, almost all the 2007. Although with no big updates since the game was already old and not much new material could be found, but it was still alive and open to visitors interested on the characters and... The game itself! But sadly, months later, the domain expired and Akira and Ariem couldn't do anything to fix it. And then, Akira made the announcement on the updates journal... Lament of Innocence... Is dead. *insert audience crying voices here* All the info was lost, at least from the domain, since Akira is such a paranoid person and has backups of the backups of every single bit of the computer info everywhere. Akira didn't want the site to die like that! So much efforts and love were put in that project, many people contributed with it (giving permissions, sending material, reporting broken links and all that jazz) and, yes, believe it or not, the site had visitors! And they sent mails to Akira asking on what had happened to the site. So, Akira decided then to not let die the project and started to make movements here and there. The first idea was to reupload everything to the domain as a branch again, but problems came again when the hosting company had problems and Akira couldn't upload anything. In disbelief, the project was about to die finally, the idea of being a branch again was not cool. While hosting problems were trying to be solved, Akira took the decision to try again and started to work offline on the project. The site was coming all nice, but the company was still having trouble. While working and with a big percent of completition, Akira was planning something big to revive the sites again, like, getting back the domain, but, some crap ads company took it so, it was tme to get another one. The decision for a domain name was hard, and when everything was decided, lovely Neko Kain appeared and helped Akira to buy the new domain name for the project. Jesus! Almost done! It was just a matter of time since there were some problems with the hosting plattaform, this would give some extra time to work on the sites and launch them more complete than before, since Akira, like most of web surfers, HATE "upcoming" pages. And finally! The June 06, 2008, after like 5 years of suffering moves and everything, slowly, the 3 shrines are coming back to life, with new names, new browsing interfaces, extra content, all of this with the opening of a new branch in the Network, Hunters Prelude (VampireKiller.net). Hunter's Prelude is still a (slowly) growing site, but finally is here. And
that's all. Let's hope this time is the good one. I'll turn on some candles
to Dios Eolo, Mayuya, the ORLY owl and even the Ceiling Cat, mighty godz of
the 1int3rw3bz! Hopefully they can protect the sites this time, hahaha!
